Bringing awareness to green causes is a subject that many artists have had fun with in their recent works and installations. Below are my top 7 favorite creative expressions of environmentalism that are sure to not only make mother nature happy but inspire some much needed reduce/reuse/recycle action from viewers.

1. Nele Azevedo's "Melting Man"

Azevedo's installation in Berlin brings awareness to global warming by placing 1,000 ice sculptured men under the sun's rays. See how quickly they melt away.

2. Moma's exhibit "Waste Not" by Song Dong

One man's trash is another man's treasure at MOMA. Nothing like a roomful of colorful cans and bottles to make you think more about recycling.

3. "Garden in Transit", NYC

New Yorkers may not have room to grow your typical garden, so they improvised by painting them on the ubiquitous taxis! It is truly environmentalism in motion.

4. "A Clearing in the Streets", Julie Farris and Sarah Waylan, NYC

Make way for the meadow! These art installations in NYC liven up the concrete jungle and spark curiosity among pedestrians.  Makes you wonder what NYC would be like if we kept it natural.

5. Ecostore Guerrilla Advertisment, Aukland NZ

No need for "do not litter" signs when you have an art installation this cool.

6. David Bryne's Bike Rack Installations, NYC.

Former Talking Heads frontman, David Bryne is beautifying NYC with these designer modernistic bike racks and encouraging the city to become more biker-friendly at the same time.

Not to be outdone by San Francisco's "Greenest" artistic effort....

7. The California Academy of Sciences

The Academy of Sciences is literally a "green" building. It's made from reusable materials- check out the grass roof!

Shh! It's a Secret....Pass it on!
